Spot Gloss (OR Spot UV) works most effectively on larger shapes or bold text, it can also work beautifully as a subtle background texture when applied to a pattern.
The standard finish for plastic cards is a highly reflective, smooth gloss surface, so we recommend using a matt finish if you intend to incorporate a Spot Gloss. It can also be applied to a gloss card surface as a subtle way to enhance selected graphics.
It is advised not to use spot gloss on fine detail or type where it is to be aligned with printed elements, as the varnish can spread marginally causing an undesirable effect.
UV Spot Gloss can be applied as a High Build (or Raised Ink) which also provides a tactile variation. Contact us for any further information about incorporating a spot gloss into your design.
